Spike Jones and Warner Herzog new web projects

4 Apr

Hey all,

I just ran into two web video projects that look extremely interesting.

The first is “futuresatate”, a series of 11 short films who explore the future in united state in about 25 or 50 years from now. The project deals with many topics like globalization, global warming, and the economic crises, and do it with creative approach. The best movie that I saw until now is “plastic bag”, which is king of art-film who tells the story of… plastic bag, but in very unusual way. To give you a an hint of what going on there is enough to say that the voice over in the movie belong to the well known director Warner Herzog. Give it a try!

Human-robots love story

The other project is Spike Jones’s new short movie “I’m here”. The movie is sponsored by Absolute Vodka (but have nothing to do with it – content wise) and can be found also as application on Facebook. As usual, Mr. Jones doing it in his own special way, from the moment you enter the website who host the movie until the end of this beautiful love story between two human-robots. Jones also wrote the music for the movie under his real name…here is the link.

If you want to share another links to interesting video projects on the web you are welcome to do it in the comments,

All the best,

Gilad

Evoke, Solving the world’s problems by gaming

2 Apr

This is something I ran into as a computer nerd. It is called Evoke, it is an attempt to utilize gaming (millions of people sitting behind their computers thinking about the game) for solving problems around the world. It is at times offensive, stupid and overly optimistic but I really think there is something there. World of Warcraft players have now spent a total of 4.6 million years on playing world of warcraft, what if we could harvest all this communal thought power?
